Milliken Park Elementary School
We are the Mighty Mustangs. Milliken Park School works in partnership with students, parents and the community to strive for the students’ highest achievement, to promote life-long learning, and to help students demonstrate responsible citizenship. At Milliken Park School we believe everyone has the right to be respected, deserves to be treated with kindness, is a capable learner and can make responsible choices.
Milliken Park is located in the northwest corner of Fremont in the Washington Heights /Country Club Estates subdivisions. The school can be most easily accessed by entering from Colorado Avenue off HWY 30 or from North Somers by turning onto Nicklaus Way. Bussing is provided for nearly 20% of our students with the majority of these students living outside the city limits to the west.
Milliken Park became a Schoolwide Title 1 school in the fall 2007-08. We offer a breakfast and lunch program. A spectrum of special education services including resource, speech language, occupational and physical therapy, vision specialist and a district program for extensive-need students is available at Milliken Park. Milliken Park provides a program for English Language Learners for students in kindergarten through grade 5. We house the district Newcomer Program for elementary students coming to Fremont who are non English speaking. We offer a Homework Club on Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays for students to have a quiet, supervised place to do homework with the support of a teacher.
The community of Milliken Park students and teachers comes together one morning a week. At that time we have morning opening activities, recognize birthdays and student work, make building announcements and challenges, and enjoy school spirit through our school song.
Milliken Park is supported through partnerships with several local businesses: American National Bank, Arbor Manor, Stinette Chiropractic and Acupuncture, Heartland Chiropractic, Hollywood Homes, and Dairy Queen. Our PTA is active and strong. We also offer an After School Care Program through the YMCA. Y staff members come to our school to provide care for students after school hours. A TeamMates program started during the 2007-08 school year. We work with the Eastern Nebraska Office on Aging and are thrilled to have the services of two foster grandparents. We welcome parents and volunteers and believe that through partnerships with parents, volunteers, and community resources we can provide a better educational environment than we can in isolation.
